When he tries to do a hard verse today, it comes across as try-hard, and his voice & lifestyle ISN'T the same as it was back in E1999, so it doesn't have the same effect Example: Let Me Go diss track. He tried SOOOO hard to come across as being tough in this track and got laughed at for it. Know your strengths...Get back to this style of rap already!!!!

Esp after Uni 5 & you describe it perfectly by saying it sounds like they try too hard. That’s exactly what it is, they used to be effortless & now they can try so hard & it doesn’t have that lasting effect as their older music. They don’t sound beast mode anymore & I don’t just mean hard I mean Budda lovas is beast mode...the intro to COACU is beast mode...even their melodic stuff was beast mode bc it felt so natural & not forced & meant to be. Maybe they’re past that point of being able to accomplish that, idk but I do think they can pull off certain styles bc I see glimpses of it & it seems great but it’s short lived

Weed song isnt a “hard” verse, but its SOLID and arguably the best verse on the song. But I understand what you’re tryna say and anyone who disagrees is deaf. I dont think he has the same passion he once did. I think he’s come to the point where he wants to make another hit, but doesnt wanna put in the work and effort to make it happen. I think he makes music cuz he has to, not cuz he wants to. He does all these random guest features for a quick buck...he aint doing them to be at the top of his game. I love Lil Lay but lets be honest, we’re lucky he went at Migos over a group/artist that could actually fight back.
